Notes on Phylum Porifera and its Function
Phylum :- PORIFERA — They are Spongy. — They are marine and mostly Asymmetrical. — They are multicellular animal. — Sponges have water transport or canal system. — Water enter through minut spores into body wall and to spongocel from where is go to osculum. ( * Osculum :- Through which water expelled out ) — Through this path they gether found respiratory exchange and waste removal. — Digestion is intracellular. — The skeleten is made up of spicules and spongin fibres. — Sexes are not separated ( Hermophrodites ). — Sponges reproduce asexually by fragmentation and sexually by formation of gametes. — Fertilization is internal and development in indirect having a larval stage which is morphologically distinct from the adult. — EXAMPLE :- Sycon , Spongocoel
